Hi, I'm Kendall Butler.

I keep books for small businesses and real estate investors on Long Island. With an MBA in Finance from Stony Brook University, QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification, and experience managing rental properties, I ensure your books are accurate, understandable, and tax-ready with no junior staff or handoffs.

Keeping Your Books Current and Understandable

Most owners don't want a pile of statements. They want to know where the money went, what the business actually earns, and whether they're ready for tax season. I keep your books up to date every month and explain what the numbers mean.

Shops, salons, contractors, restaurants, and other local small businesses are right in my wheelhouse.

Monthly reconciliation

I tie out your bank, credit card, and loan accounts every month, so nothing is missing and nothing is counted twice.

Reports you can act on

Each month I go through your profit and loss statement and balance sheet with you. We cover what changed, why it changed, and what to do about it.

Ready for tax season

I hand your CPA clean, closed books. Filing goes smoothly, and you keep the deductions you've earned.

Your Properties Deserve Proper Bookkeeping

Your properties have a lot of moving parts. Keeping rental expenses in order and your flip projects separate can be a full-time job on its own. If you've worked with a general bookkeeping company before, you already know how nuanced these books are, and why a general bookkeeper can miss the details that matter.

I've managed property myself, so rent, vendors, and repair costs are familiar territory. I know the difference between a capital improvement (a big fix that adds lasting value) and a routine repair, and I record each one correctly so your deductions hold up.

Each property and flip project gets its own income and expense tracking, so you can see which ones are earning and which need attention. I work with landlords who own one rental and investors building a larger portfolio.

  • Rent income and vacancy tracking
  • Repairs and maintenance categorized correctly
  • Mortgage, insurance, and property tax records
  • Separate tracking by LLC when your properties sit in different entities
  • Clean records for Schedule E (the tax form for rental income)

Pricing Sized to Your Business

Every quote is custom, based on your volume, how your business is set up, and how much cleanup your books need. $500 a month is my minimum.

My Mission

I started Butler's Bookkeeping because a lot of small business owners need guidance. There's real value hiding in financial reports, but most owners don't have the time or patience to sit down with their books and truly understand their numbers. That's what I love doing: finding the story behind the numbers and breaking it down into something clear.

I also want your business to claim every deduction it's entitled to, and that starts with tracking expenses properly. A deduction is only as strong as the records behind it, which is why I keep your books tidy and well documented all year. Every owner knows the fear of an audit, and no honest bookkeeper can promise you won't get one. What I can do is keep your records organized, so if questions ever come up, you have a clear paper trail to answer them.

Real estate is a passion of mine too. I've managed rental property myself, so I know what it's like to track rent, chase repair invoices, and wonder whether you're really making money once the dust settles. I bring that experience to investors who want someone dependable looking after their books.

I'm based in Lindenhurst, NY, and I'm a proud Long Island native.

Things People Usually Ask

Do I need to be local to work with you?

Not at all. I'm based in Lindenhurst, NY, and most clients are on Long Island, but everything is virtual, so I can work with you wherever you are.

What accounting software do you use?

QuickBooks Online, the most widely used small business software. I'm a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Do I need to already have QuickBooks?

No. If you don't have it, I'll help you pick a plan and set it up. Intuit bills the subscription separately.

What if my books are a mess?

That's common. I'll review your QuickBooks file (or three months of bank statements if you're starting fresh) and quote a flat fee for the cleanup. No work starts until you approve.

Do you do taxes?

I don't prepare returns, but clean books make filing faster. Need a CPA? I can introduce you to a good one.
